Maryland Space Business Roundtable 22nd Annual Gala
April 21, 2017
Maryland’s thriving aerospace businesses span from Earth-orbiting missions to far-flung planetary spacecraft and from robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles to cybersecurity, avionics, and weapons testing. The region is a thriving hub of technology development, aerospace industry innovation, and federal research grants. When compared to other states, the Maryland aerospace industry is usually ranked either second or third in a robust economy, an educated and savvy workforce, as well as infrastructure.
In 2009, Maryland’s aerospace and defense businesses were awarded $3.5 billion in federal contracts and generated $21 billion in gross domestic product. Maryland is home to sixteen of America’s top twenty-five aerospace companies and more than twelve major military facilities.
