To fit varying mission requirements and budgets that are allocated based on the mission lifecycle, FreeFlyer offers tiered functionality. FreeFlyer Design, Engineer and Mission are designed to give you the functionality you need as your project moves through typical spacecraft mission phases.

How Does Tiered Functionality Work?

FreeFlyer is one tool-one executable. Based on your purchase, your FreeFlyer license will "unlock" one of three tiers of FreeFlyer functionality: Design, Engineer or Mission.

FreeFlyer Design has all the functionality needed for concept study and preliminary analysis. For missions in the proposal stage or initial concept stage, FreeFlyer Design offers basic 2D & 3D visualization and flight dynamics analysis at an outstanding value. As missions move into requirements definition and mission design, upgrading to a FreeFlyer Engineer license will give you access to everything you need for comprehensive analysis and detailed mission planning. The key benefit of FreeFlyer Engineer is its scripting language, which allows users to implement mission-unique algorithms and solve even the most complex mission design challenges. As your mission prepares for launch and operations, FreeFlyer Mission unlocks complete flight/orbit dynamics operations functionality and complete FreeFlyer functionality. With built-in interfaces, orbit determination and a generic file reader/writer, FreeFlyer Mission works seamlessly with larger ground systems and other third party software.

FreeFlyer's tiered functionality allows users to purchase only the functionality they need for that phase of the mission. When users upgrade to the next tier, there is no need for a new executable or any additional modules. We simply send you a new license file, giving you access to the upgraded functionality.
